Feng Shui tips for the Year of the Earth Dog

The Year of the Fire Bird has flown past and it is time to look forward to the Year of the Earth Dog, which starts on the Tibetan and Chinese New Year – February 16th. It was a very challenging year for many people and for some much progress was made with concentrated effort. Others said goodbye to important people in their lives and make fresh starts this New Year.

For me personally it was a highly challenging year with the passing of my wonderful spiritual master, Geshe Thubten Dawo and the birth (after a long gestation) of my eight-part TV show about Feng Shui in famous places, called ‘Wind and Water’. Making the series was like climbing Mount Everest and I am very happy with the result but the view from the top is yet another big mountain to climb as I look for broadcasters. Here is the link to the trailer for those who have not seen it yet. I am still hopeful that it will help to raise substantial funds for various Buddhist projects around the world.

The faithful Dog is a friend to the Horse and the Tiger. So if you were born under either of these animal signs you can expect better fortunes this year. The Dog is an enemy of the Dragon so this could be a difficult year for those born under this sign. It is usually considered quite difficult for a Dog in the year of the Dog.

There are a number of both positive and negative influences visiting your home and workplace this year and they are all easily dealt with. You can apply ALL the cures and enhancements with confidence that they will bring an excellent balance to your environment.

Briefly, here are the top ten tips you can implement to create the ‘Style of Perfect Harmony’ in your place for the year of the Dog, with a detailed explanation following the list. This is an integrated package so try to do them all…

In Brief:

  1. Do not sit facing the North West this year
  2. Do not sit with your back to the North this year
  3. Put a large wind chime with six hollow metal tubes in the North sector
  4. Put a fountain in the South East sector for wealth
  5. Put a bowl of still water in the East for health
  6. Have a wind chime in the Northwest for help from mentors
  7. Put a six-rod wind chime in the West to avoid sickness for children
  8. Put a bright light in the North East to help with study and good ideas
  9. Have a bright light in the central sector of your place to multiply the effects
  10. Put a crystal in the South West for relationship luck.

In Detail:

Directions

Firstly, you should always pay particular attention you your good and bad personal directions, which I explained in one of my previous blogs – ‘Time to get a good direction in your life‘. These directions are yours for life and very effective. Please check the link above if you are not sure what they are and start putting the simple recommendations into effect – especially, sleep with the top of your head towards a good direction.

There are always complications in Feng Shui and there are two negative yearly influences that affect your good directions. The first is called the ‘Grand Duke’ and it affects the direction that you sit facing. This year it is in the northwest direction (specifically the 15 degrees between the compass bearings of 293 and 307 degrees known as NW1). It is best not to sit facing this direction at all this year. Some people also choose not to sleep with the top of their heads towards this direction. My personal view is that sleeping with your head towards the grumpy old Grand Duke is not as ‘confrontational’ as sitting facing him. The negative effect would be problems with authority figures and bureaucracy as well as problems with building or renovations in this direction in your place – so you can check this out if you are sleeping that way. If you are doing a major renovation involving all areas of your place this year it is better not to start them in the North West direction. You can start elsewhere and get round to this sector later.

The second negative influence with regard to your directions is called the ‘Three Killings’ and you should not sit with your back to it. It is in the Northern direction this year so do not sit facing South, even if this is usually a good direction for you.

These first two recommendations are about ‘directions’ and all the following ones are about ‘locations’ or ‘sectors’ within your place. You can use your directions anywhere within any building for your whole life – just beware of those two negative yearly ones that I just mentioned. To figure out the ‘locations’ you need to draw a tic-tac-toe grid on your floor plan of nine equal sectors – simply divide each side of the floor plan into three and join the lines to make a grid of square or rectangular sectors (this is called the ‘Lo Shu’ square). Use a good quality compass to figure out which sector is which. Then place the recommended enhancements in each sector.

Locations

One of the major negative influences in the Fire Bird year was the location of the ‘Five Yellows’ in the South, which as I explained was negative for Fame and Reputation – and, sure enough, there were a lot of scandals affecting celebrities. This year this heavy earth influence moves to the North location and is a condition for problems associated with your career, for the middle son of the family, the health of hearing and for things to do with water. These problems could be more acute if your front door is located in this sector or your bedroom is there. Some people prefer not to sleep in this sector for the whole year.

The cure for the Five Yellows is always the same and that is to put large metal objects in the sector where it is located – so in the North this year. A large wind chime with six hollow metal tubes is highly recommended. It can be inside or outside and does not have to make any sound. Metal is a good element for the northern sector so this will assist your career as well as controlling the Five Yellows.

There is a very positive influence in the South East sector this year and place a fountain in this sector with the water flowing in towards the centre. With this in place, you can expect some additional income.

A negative influence for health is located in the East sector and this can be absorbed by placing a fairly large wooden bowl with still water. Change the water every three days or so and do not let pets drink it.

Hang a metal wind chime or  bells in the North West to get more people helping you in your life.

There is a negative influence for the health of children in the West sector this year, which is exhausted by hanging a six-rod metal wind chime there.

Place a bright light in the North East sector to remove a condition for mental stress and to help with education and good ideas in general. Keep it on most of the time.

The multiplication influence is in the centre of your place this year and is also activated with light. This will help to multiply all the Feng Shui enhancements.

Lastly, hang a crystal in the South West sector to catch the afternoon sunlight and make rainbows in the room. This is good for romance and relationships.

Size counts in Feng Shui and you can put more of the same enhancements when you feel that everything is working well but it if you feel that the energy is too much for you when you put more or bigger ones then you can reduce them slightly until you feel comfortable with the level of energy.

Finally, for those of you still interested in the fortunes of Donald (Teflon) Trump, he continues to benefit from the excellent Feng Shui that was done for him on his home in Trump Towers, New York and will ride that Feng Shui wave all year. The Three Killings moves from the South to the North so the criticism of him will die down a bit (his desk in the White House faces north). Trump was born in the year of the Fire Dog (as were Clinton and Bush Jr). The general consensus is that being in your own animal sign year is not good – so his problems will continue, however I suspect that others will fall around him and somehow he will survive politically mainly because of the good Feng Shui advice he has received.

Very best wishes for some great energy in 2018 and a lot of success!

Feng Shui advice for the Year of the Fire Bird 2017

Fire Bird.jpg

Happy New Year!

As we bid farewell to the year of the Fire Monkey (and what a big year that was) it is time to think about Feng Shui changes for the year of the Fire Bird 2017.

The Tibetan New Year called ‘Losar’ is not for another month yet but we still need to make some changes as Feng Shui follows the Chinese calendar of course.

Some of you will have noticed my observation back in June that Donald Trump was riding a Feng Shui wave and was likely to win the Presidency. His character certainly suited the year of the Monkey, which is playful and hard to pin down. Also this year is another Fire year, which suits him as it is to do with fame and reputation – good for a reality TV star. Also he was born in the year of the Fire Dog and will do well (at least in his own mind) despite criticism and clashes with authority.

It should be an especially good year if you were born in the year of the Ox or Snake. Not so good if you were born in the year of the Rabbit.

The Bird or Rooster year is usually characterised by hard work, commitment, organisation and precision. So it is good year to work in a very practical and intelligent way towards your aspirations, which should be be pure and altruistic – not selfish.

So much for the musings of Chinese astrology. What about Feng Shui?

It is very important that you know your good and bad directions and these are determined from your year of birth. You can check here to find your animal sign and your Gua number in my blog – ‘Time to get a good direction for your life’ (check the tables to get your directions).

These Feng Shui directions are yours for life and are always very useful and powerful. However, there are yearly changes that you have to be aware of otherwise you may not realise that one or two of your good directions have become bad for one year.

There are three negative yearly influences to watch out for every year – the Grand Duke, the Three Killings and the Five Yellows. This year it is the West Group people (with Gua number 2,5,6,7 or 8) who are most affected.

The Grand Duke is a negative yearly influence that you should not sit facing even if it is normally a good direction for you. This year it is in the west so avoid facing this direction at all this year. To be precise, it is due west in the 15 degree range between 263 and 277, but it is probably easier to avoid the whole of the west, especially as there is another negative influence to deal with. Don’t confront the Grand Duke so do not sit facing him. It may also be advisable to not sleep with the top of your head towards the Grand Duke. And, do not start renovations in the west. It is ok to start elsewhere and then you can continue to the west area later in your renovations.

The other major problem for West Group people this year is the Three Killings and this also affects your directions. With this one, it is important not to sit with your back to it, otherwise there is a danger of negative criticism and being undermined. This has gone round 90 degrees, to the east. So this year do not sit facing west.

This means that if you sit facing west there is a double dose of negative energy from the Grand Duke in front and the Three Killings behind so make sure you always avoid it until the next New Year, which falls on February 16th 2018.

windchime

Lastly, the Five Yellows is a negative influence that affects a particular location in your home and workplace, rather than a direction. Last year the northeast was afflicted and this year it is the south. It can cause sickness and general misfortune so it is better to avoid spending a lot of time in this location in your place. However, it can be controlled by hanging a wind chime with six hollow metal tubes in the area. If you put a wind chime in the northeast last year, it is time to move it to the south.

This is especially important if your bedroom is located in the southern sector and you cannot move to another bedroom for the year. It is also very important to hang the wind chime close to your front door if it is located in the south of your home. Wind chimes do not have to make a sound in order to be effective. It is the presence of the metal tubes that helps to suck up the negative earth element influence associated with the Five Yellows. The most likely problems would be for the luck of reputation, especially for the youngest daughter and things to do with the eyes and seeing.

The very best way to avoid bad luck is to always perform good actions with the best possible intentions. This creates the seeds of good fortune. Then when negative conditions arise, like the ones I just outlined, you are much less likely to experience negative results. Implementing the cures I have suggested makes it even more unlikely that bad things will happen.

It is not always easy to implement these Feng Shui recommendations. Just do your best and forget about it afterwards. The great Buddhist saint, Shantideva said, ‘Worry doesn’t help. If there is something you can do, do it, and then there is no need to worry. If there is nothing you can do, why worry?

So please enjoy life with a good heart, Always work on the balance between mind, body and your environment. Do your best to help others and at least try not to harm them. That way you will have success in the Year of the Fire Bird and always.

Obama, Trump and the Future

Dear Friends,

Since the rather surprising US Presidential election, many people have been asking me what the implications are from a Feng Shui point of view and if I can give any recommendations for the future. Many are shocked. Many are thinking they should leave the USA. And all are uncertain about the future.

Let me begin by looking at some recent history. In 2008, at the beginning of the Democrat primaries I told clients in New York that the most likely candidate be the next American President was Barack Obama. They were surprised because nobody had heard of him. My reasoning was in the characteristics of the trigrams that we use in Feng Shui. We were newly into Period Eight, which runs from 2004 to 2024 and is ruled by the Gen trigram. The family member that is associated with this trigram is the ‘youngest son’, so I was simply looking for the youngest male candidate and that was Barack Obama. Even when he was very close with Hilary Clinton I knew that he had the best chance. And then when he won the nomination and was running against a much older Republican in John McCain I was sure he would win. Obamas win in 2012 was something of a surprise for many people but he was riding the prevailing energy of the time, which continued into a comparatively easy re-election in 2012

When it came to the 2016 election I was a bit surprised that no younger men came through. Rubio was knocked out early on and Cruz did not last much longer. Both were in their mid-40s like Obama was when he was elected. So clearly, there was some other influence at work.

There is a very famous New York businessman who says, ‘I do Feng Shui because it makes me money – but I do not believe in it’. He does Feng Shui because he was in financial difficulty and needed to attract Chinese backers and they will not invest in a business unless Feng Shui has been done. So he engaged two very competent Malaysian Chinese masters. That he ‘does not believe in it’ is absolutely fine. I prefer it that way because it works whether you believe in it or not and it is better if you do not fret about it all the time. That business man’s name is Donald Trump.

It was clear to me that he was riding a ‘Feng Shui wave’ and was very likely to have success both in the primaries and the presidential election. I told many clients and students this starting six months before the election. However, I did think that he might be a bit early and even I was fooled by the pre-election polls. That Trump actually won was as much a shock for me as much as for anyone I know – my heart ruled my head.

The next Feng Shui period – Period 9 – runs from 2024 to 2044 and is ruled by the Li trigram. The family member of this period is the ‘middle daugher’ so a middle-aged woman seemed more likely to win even though Period 8 is still a time for young men. However, Period 9 also has other characteristics of the Li trigram and these include ‘Fame and Reputation’. So it becomes increasingly likely that the cult of celebrity will be more important and that is another reason why Donald Trump was successful. I told my students that he was a bit early and it would have been more likely for him to be successful in 2020 as we approached the start of Period 9 in 2024. However, I underestimated the Feng Shui wave he was riding.

So what about the present?

Well firstly politics has just experienced a seismic change and everything is uncertain, not just in the USA but worldwide. The centrist politics of the major rival parties all trying to occupy the middle ground is over in my view. So we can expect more extreme views to be dominant on both sides. There will be a rush to placate the ‘working classes’ or ‘battlers’ as we call them in Australia. These people have been doing it too hard for too long while the distribution of wealth has favoured the already rich and ‘career politicians’ have done nothing to create more equality. So-called ‘trickle-down economics’ is surely debunked by now and is most certainly on-the-nose for the majority of voters.

Will Trump address this? Highly unlikely with his right-wing politician friends in the White House. So there will very quickly be a lot of dissatisfied people in the U.S.A. It is highly likely in my opinion that he will be impeached as soon as the Republican establishment tire of him. So Pence will be president but will not win a second term. There may be a complete change of the guard then – back to Democrat but it looks more likely that conservative view will prevail especially with local radio and other right-wing media playing such a big role.

However, Trump has broken the mould of the career politician so as 2024 approaches and celebrity becomes more important there is a higher chance of someone else famous becoming President. We could yet see a Kardashian in the White House! And as for career politicians, they would have to actively try to achieve cult-celebrity status before running for high office.

Many of my friends have asked, ‘Should I stay in America?’, ‘Are we heading for conflict?’, so I will try to answer these questions about the future in as reasonable a way as I can.

Firstly, let us look a the Feng Shui trends for the period from 2024 to 2o44 called ‘Period 9’. These include, the ‘Middle daughter’, ‘Fame and reputation’,’Fire’, the ‘Phoenix’ and things to do with the ‘Eyes’. For this reason, it is more likely that a middle-aged woman would be most likely as a successful politician. We already have that of course in many countries around the world, notably Germany, the U.K. However, successful ones are likely to be already famous and not necessarily politicians.

One of the troubling characteristics of Period 9 is ‘Fire’. Does that mean that there is a likelihood of war, especially nuclear war? If we go back in history to the last occurrence of Period 9 (it was from 1844 to 1864) we find revolution sweeping Europe mostly as wealthy elites tried to suppress voting and other rights to the working and business classes. It was felt in France for example (before the revolution that installed the 2nd Republic) that the banks were in control of the country and the ruling elite had no interest in furthering the rights or welfare of the poor. So it was a period of great turmoil in Europe and elsewhere.

When the people with their fingers on the nuclear buttons include Trump, Putin, Xi Jinping and Modi one is right to feel a bit nervous. However, all human beings want happiness, especially for themselves and their loved ones and we must continue to trust that nuclear weapons are primarily a deterrent to war as they have been for all of my life. My generation remains the first in history that has not had to go to war.

I am still hopeful that no political problem is unsolvable – especially because it is so much easier to communicate with each other. Interestingly, this is since Period 7 (1984 to 2004) where one of the characteristics was things to do with the ‘Mouth’ and we saw the rise of the internet and mobile phones. So if ideas are communicated and discussed clearly then there should be no problem.

However, I have always taken to heart the attitude of the Tibetan community who lost their homeland to the Chinese and many of whom now live in exile. They say, ‘Hope for the best and prepare for the worst’.

So, bearing that in mind, I have advised clients and friends for a number of years now to go ‘off the grid’ so-to-speak and find a nice country place where they can be self-sufficient in food (maybe through permaculture), solar electricity, water supply and so on. This seems sensible especially as, with the characteristic of ‘Fire’, Period 9 will be the period of global warming. It will be a time when we realise that not enough has been done to counter emissions and will start to reap the consequences. So being ‘off the grid’ will be the best contribution from that point of view and the best attitude. However, if the worst happens and there is war then you will also be in good shape. It seems to me that the various Buddhist retreat centres have an important role to play in this regard. They not only help to create causes of good fortune (good actions motivated by good intentions) but can also create the conditions for that good causal potential (or karma) to ripen into good fortune for everyone who lives there.

Can these conditions be found in the U.S.A? Of course they can. There are already wonderful communities of good people all over the States. And also there are many wonderful pockets of land waiting to be found for this purpose. So I am very hopeful. Then if the landscaping and building is done according to Feng Shui principles it will also be better protected from possible harm.

If all those good people in America (disheartened, unsettled and even scared of what is happening politically) leave that great country then it will be impoverished. There is a majority against Trump actually and they must continue to make their voices heard. It is even more important now to debate and educate with compassion and love. To persuade and lead by example. To counter the politics of hate with the politics of universal love and compassion. The trend of human evolution is away from conflict and towards mutual care. This is inevitable despite those that would occasionally lead us back to the old days.

So my basic advice is hope for the best, prepare for the worst and counter those that would lead you back to the good old, dark old days with reason and love.

I wish you all true happiness.

Love,

Jampa

Feng Shui advice for the Chinese Year of the Monkey 2016

MonkeyLosar Tashi Delek and Happy New Year!

The Chinese and Tibetan New Year coincided this year and friends and fellow monks are celebrating the year of the Fire Monkey all around the world.

In the Chinese traditions this means travelling for family reunions and in the Tibet communities it is the start of a month of festivals and prayers. In Tibetan monasteries they are enjoying a few days of holiday followed by special pujas to set up the following year.

This is the year of the Monkey, which is playful and hard to pin down. In Buddhism we often talk about the ‘monkey mind’ – the tendency for the mind to flit between one idea and another and the difficulty of focussing on the here and now in a meaningful way. Science has started to discover good reasons why we should try mindfulness meditation to overcome mental and physical challenges and the research is well established.

The stories of the Monkey King are beloved in the Tibetan and Chinese Buddhist traditions. Monkey, Pigsy and Sandy’s adventures as they lead the monk Tripitaka to India to receive the Mahayana teachings from Lord Buddha are wonderful stories loved by youngsters and adults alike. It always seems to be King Monkey who gets them out of their various scrapes but only when his actions are controlled by the wise young monk.

Maybe this year is one in which it would be good to give mindfulness meditation a try in order to overcome the Monkey nature that will prevail.

It should be an especially good year if you were born in the year of the Monkey and also for Dragons and Rats. Don’t expect a good year if you were born in the year of the Tiger.

You can check here to find your animal sign and your Gua number in my blog – ‘Time to get a good direction for your life’ (check the tables to get your directions).

As I have often mentioned, it is very important to know your Gua number because it determines your lucky and unlucky directions. These Feng Shui directions are yours for life and are always very useful and powerful. However, there are yearly changes that you have to be aware of otherwise you may not realise that one or two of your good directions have become bad for one year.

There are three negative yearly influences to watch out for every year – the Grand Duke, the Three Killings and the Five Yellows:

The Grand Duke is a negative yearly influence that you should not sit facing even if it is usually a good direction for you. This year it is in the southwest so avoid facing this direction at all this year. To be precise, it is in the west-southwest in the 15 degrees between 233 and 247, but it is probably easier to avoid the whole of the southwest, as you did last year. Don’t confront the Grand Duke so do not sit facing him. It may also be advisable to not sleep with the top of your head towards the Grand Duke. And, do not start renovations in the southwest. It is ok to start elsewhere and then you can continue to the southwest area later in your renovations.

The Three Killings is another negative influence that affects your directions. With this one, it is important not to sit with your back to it, otherwise there is a danger of negative criticism and being undermined. This has gone round 90 degrees, to the south. So this year do not sit facing north.

windchime

Lastly, the Five Yellows is a negative influence that affects a particular location in your home and workplace, rather than a direction. This year the northeast is afflicted. It can cause sickness and general misfortune so it is better to avoid spending a lot of time in this location in your place. However, it can be controlled by hanging a wind chime with six hollow metal tubes in the area. This is especially important if your bedroom is located in the northeast sector and you cannot move to another bedroom for the year. It is also very important to hang the wind chime close to your front door if it is located in the northeast of your home. Wind chimes do not have to make a sound in order to be effective. It is the presence of the metal tubes that helps to suck up the negative earth element influence associated with the Five Yellows. The most likely problems would be for the luck of education and knowledge , especially the youngest son.

The northeast is also associated with the fortunes of young men and in general we are in a good twenty year period for young men, right up until 2024. However, this year is not good and so whereas it was easy to predict success for Barack Obama in the last two presidential elections the same may not be true for the youngest male candidate this time around, Marco Rubio, whose problems seemed to have started immediately on the movement of the five yellows to the northeast at the beginning of the new year on February 9th.

That way the Year of the Monkey will take care of itself and you.

Feng Shui advice for the Chinese Year of the Sheep/Goat/Ram/Ewe?

EweLosar Tashi Delek and Happy New Year!

February 19th 2015 is the start of the Chinese and Tibetan New Year but what animal sign is it? It is variously described as the Year of the Sheep, or the Year of the Goat or the Ram. The Chinese tend to go for the Goat and the Tibetans for Sheep. Indeed, there is a close genetic relationship between these animals. Sheep years are ‘yin’, which is considered feminine. So perhaps it would be more accurate to describe it as the Year of the Ewe – and certainly not the Year of the Ram.

The element for this year is Wood and this represents growth. The Sheep is associated with the southwest, so this year you can expect some new relationships to begin. This is most likely for people born in the year of the Horse.

It should be an especially good year if you were born in the year of the Pig (Boar) and also for Rabbits. Don’t expect a good year if you were born in the year of the Ox.

You can check here to find your animal sign and your Gua number in my blog – ‘Time to get a good direction for your life’ (check the tables to get your directions).

It is very important to know your Gua number because it determines your lucky and unlucky directions. These Feng Shui directions are yours for life and are always very useful and powerful. However, there are yearly changes that you have to be aware of otherwise you may not realise that one or two of your good directions have become bad for one year.

There are three negative yearly influences to watch out for each year – the Grand Duke, the Three Killings and the Five Yellows:

The Grand Duke is a negative yearly influence that you should not sit facing even if it is usually a good direction for you. This year it is in the southwest so avoid facing this direction at all this year. To be precise, it is in the south-southwest in the 15 degrees between 203 and 217, but it is probably easier to avoid the whole of the southwest. The Grand Duke is like a grumpy old general and you should not confront him in any way, so do not sit facing him. It is advisable to not sleep with the top of your head towards the Grand Duke. Also, do not start renovations in the direction where he is located. It is ok to start elsewhere and then you can continue to the southwest area later in your renovations.

The Three Killings is another negative influence that affects your directions. With this one, it is important not to sit with your back to it, otherwise there is a danger of negative criticism and being undermined. This is in the west this year so do not sit facing east.

windchime

Lastly, the Five Yellows is a negative influence that affects a particular location in your home and workplace, rather than a direction. This year the west is afflicted. It can cause sickness and general misfortune so it is better to avoid spending a lot of time in this location in your place. However, it can be controlled by hanging a wind chime with six hollow metal tubes in the area. This is especially important if your bedroom is located in the west sector and you cannot move to another bedroom for the year. It is also very important to hang the wind chime close to your front door if it is located in the west of your home. Wind chimes do not have to make a sound in order to be effective. It is the presence of the metal tubes that helps to suck up the negative earth element influence associated with the Five Yellows. The most likely problems would be for the luck of children in general, especially the youngest daughter.

Remember that the best way to avoid bad luck is to always perform good actions with the best possible intentions. This creates the seeds of good fortune. Then when negative conditions arise, like the ones I just outlined, you are much less likely to experience negative results. Implementing the cures I have suggested makes it even more unlikely that bad things will happen.

Whatever you do, there is no use worrying about it. So please enjoy life with a good heart, keep your life grounded and in balance, and as much as you can help others and at least try not to harm them. That way you will create a cycle of good fortune that will make the Year of the Sheep a very successful one for you.

Happy New Year of the Horse – Here is some Feng Shui advice

Feng Shui advice for the Year of the Horse 2014

Gino

Dear Friends,

Last year was a bit of a roller-coaster ride for many people. I had an amazing year with a huge step forward in terms of career. I started a film production company called Alpine Style Productions and with the help of my excellent team we completed filming eight episodes of a thirteen-part series on Feng Shui, called ‘Wind and Water’. You can see the trailer for this ground-breaking TV series using this link.

Sales of my book, ‘Feng Shui – Seeing is Believing’ have also been going well. And a new book, on Flying Star Feng Shui, is one of my priorities for 2014.

turtle

I have also found a manufacturer interested in making the Feng Shui enhancers that I designed with the sculptor, Olivier Massange. Keep an eye on my website for availability later this year.

The year of the Snake brought its ups and downs and now we move into the year of the Horse. The horse is characterised by strength, reliability and hard work. So that is what you can expect this year as well as more travel. People born in the year of the Horse should practice more patience this year and take a more softly, softly approach to their work.

In general though, I think that we can start to be more confident about business, career and projects. They will need hard work but we should start to reap the benefits of the necessary soul-searching and re-orientation that we have been through in recent years. Period Eight (2004 to 2024) was always predicted to be a prosperous one and now that we are halfway through we can move forward with more confidence for the next eight to ten years.

However, as usual, there are yearly influences that we must take note of and control.

A wind chime with six hollow metal tubesThe principal negative influence, which is called the ‘Five Yellows’ moves from the centre this year to the north-west of your building. It is always important to have metal where the Five Yellows is located for the year – so hang a fairly large wind chime with six hollow metal tubes.

The wind chime can be inside your place or outside and it doesn’t have to make a noise. Metal exhausts the negative earth influence. Otherwise there would be problems for men in senior positions and in getting help from mentors, teachers and guides.

If you have been practicing Feng Shui, you may well have a wind chime in the north-west of your place already and it will certainly not harm to place an additional one. It may even attract more people to help you in your life.

Two other major negative yearly influences for 2014 affect your sitting directions and there is a double dose of bad energy when facing the south. I already explained the great importance of personal good and bad directions in an earlier blog called  ‘Time to get a good direction in your life’.  You should check out this extremely helpful information if you have not done so already.

The first is called the ‘Grand Duke’ and you must not sit facing this way even if it is a good personal direction for you. In 2014 it is due south so avoid having your desk facing this direction or sitting watching TV facing this way. You may even prefer to not have the head of your bed towards the south this year.

The second direction is called the ‘Three Killings’ and it is important to not sit with your back to this one. In 2014 it is in the north so again you should not sit facing south, otherwise you may suffer from unnecessary criticism.

Remember that good luck does not grow on trees.  You must first create the cause of good fortune by performing good actions with good intentions. What goes around, comes around. Feng Shui can help to create good conditions so that good luck can become manifest but it is up to you to make your own luck by being a good-hearted, patient and generous person, and also to recognise and seize the opportunities when they arise. Then again use that good fortune to help others. That way, you will create a never-ending cycle of abundance.

2014 will be a crucial year for my TV project and I will need all the help I can get! Wishing you all the very best of luck in the year of the Wood Horse!

Love,

Jampa

Feng Shui advice for the Year of the Snake 2013

Feng Shui advice for the Year of the Snake 2013

Wonderful Snake Dear Friends, Another year over and it was a difficult one for wealth for many people. But the well-made plans and developments of last year will bear fruit in this one. This year the focus changes to support and stability for your family and business. It was a very big year for me personally when my book ‘Feng Shui – Seeing is Believing’ was published by Wisdom Publications of Boston, U.S.A. It is available in both hard copy and ebook versions from Amazon and other good outlets. Check it out at: http://www.wisdompubs.org/pages/display.lasso?-KeyValue=33182&-Token.Action=&image=1 I also made the pilot episode of my TV series – ‘Wind and Water’ in Florence and I have already filmed one of the 13 episodes which is set in India (on attracting the luck of Mentors) in full HD quality. The other 12 episodes will be filmed all around the world this year for release in 2014. If you would like to invest in this unique and highly beneficial project let me know. Keep an eye on my website for developments. http://www.jlgeomancy.com Now it is time to look at the Feng Shui tips for the year of the Water Snake. Will it be a lucky year for you? The principal negative influence this year is in the centre of your home and business premises. It is important to have metal in the centre of your building this year. This is necessary to control the ‘Five Yellows’. It is a year when you may have problems finding support and you should take care that the central sector of your place is well set up. As I mentioned before, you should be aware that Feng Shui recommendations do not make up the entirety of your luck. You must first create the cause of good fortune by performing good actions with good intentions. Any major moral philosophy will explain how to do this. Then the seeds of potential good fortune are created. For example, the seeds of wealth come from generosity and the seeds of health come from not harming but helping (even insects). What goes around, comes around. Feng Shui techniques explain how to create the right environmental conditions so that these seeds can ripen and opportunities for good fortune arise. Then it up to you to make the most of those opportunities. Using your good directions is a major part of creating conducive environmental conditions. In last year’s blog I mentioned the great importance of using your good directions (and avoiding your bad ones). Everybody has four good directions and four bad ones and I explained these in some detail. If you missed that information I highly recommend that you familiarise yourself with it before you do anything else. It can change your life! https://jampaludrup.wordpress.com/2012/03/01/time-to-get-a-good-direction-for-your-life/ However, you must also be aware of the  yearly influences, which sometimes render even your good directions negative. These negative yearly influences are called the ‘Grand Duke’ and the ‘Three Killings’. This year the direction of the Grand Duke is still the southeast. The precise compass bearing is from 143 to 157 degrees. He is like a grumpy old general and it is not good to sit facing him even if the southeast is one of your good directions. You can sit with your back to him no problem. I also recommend that you do not sleep with your head toward this negative influence. If you are planning renovations, do not start them in the southeast. The direction of the Three Killings is the east. It is important that you do not sit with your back to this direction. In other words, you should not sit facing the west this year. If you do, there is a danger of criticism or ‘back-stabbing’. You can sit facing the east with no problem. The third negative influence is the ‘Five Yellows’. This corresponds to a location within your building and not the direction. This year the Five Yellows is in the central sector of your place. This brings a condition for sickness, money problems and general bad luck for anyone who spends a lot of time in this location. It is a heavy earth energy influence and it is cured by hanging a metal wind chime with six hollow tubes in the central sector. If your bedroom is in this sector of the house or apartment you should consider sleeping in another room for the year. If you were born in the year of the Snake this should be a good year for you anyway. If you were born in the year of the Pig it may be difficult. Wishing you all the very best of luck in the year of the Snake!
