Greetings from Sydney.
The Chinese New Year will soon be upon us and it is time to look at the yearly changes to your Feng Shui for the year of the Earth Pig 2019, which coincides with the Tibetan New Year and starts on February 5th. Last year was another difficult one for many people, especially for those with a front door in the North sector. Being born as a ‘Pig’ sounds a bit negative but the year of the Pig is one that Chinese people look forward to in the hope of more prosperity and children born in this year are considered fortunate.
In general Pig years are good for Pigs (or Boars), Sheep (or Goats) and Rabbits. They are often negative for Snakes. So what are the things to look out for in 2019?
- Do not sit facing the North-west this year
- Do not sit with your back to the West this year (facing East)
- Put a large wind chime with six hollow metal tubes in the Southwest sector, especially if your front door or bedroom is located there and remove any crystals
- A fountain in the North is good for your career, media and publicity
- Put a bubbling fountain in the Central sector for wealth
- Have a wind chime in the Northwest for help from mentors
- Put a six-rod wind chime in the West to attract children into your life.
Firstly, check out your good and bad personal directions, which I explained in my blog – ‘Time to get a good direction in your life‘. This is simply one of the most important things you can possibly know. Everyone has four good and four bad directions. They are easy to put into effect and can change your life. Especially, make sure you sleep with the top of your head towards one of your good directions.
There are two negative yearly influences that affect those good directions and you have to take them into account at the beginning of each Chinese year. The first is called the ‘Grand Duke’ and it affects the direction that you sit facing. This year it is in the North-west direction (specifically the 15 degrees between the compass bearings of 323 and 337 degrees known as NW3). Do not to sit facing this direction at all this year. Some people also choose not to sleep with the top of their heads towards this direction. As I mentioned last year, my personal view is that sleeping with your head towards the Grand Duke is not as ‘confrontational’ as sitting facing him. The negative effect is bureaucratic problems and general obstacles getting things moving in your life. Also, do not start any renovations in the North-west sector. You can start elsewhere and get round to this sector later.
The second negative influence with regard to your directions is called the ‘Three Killings’ and you should not sit with your back to it. It is in the Western direction this year so do not sit facing East, even if this is usually a good direction for you.
These first two recommendations are about ‘directions’ and all the following ones are about ‘locations’ or ‘sectors’ within your place. You can use your directions anywhere within any building for your whole life – just beware of those two negative yearly ones that I just mentioned. To figure out the ‘locations’ you need to draw a tic-tac-toe grid on your floor plan of nine equal sectors – simply divide each side of the floor plan into three and join the lines to make a grid of square or rectangular sectors (this is called the ‘Lo Shu’ square). Use a good quality compass to figure out which sector is which. Then place the recommended enhancements in each sector.
Firstly, you should remove the enhancements that I recommended for last year, except where I suggest leaving them for this year also.
The most negative influence that you must check every year is the location of the ‘Five Yellows’. It was in the North last year and was a condition for problems in your career. This year this heavy earth influence moves to the South-west location where it negatively affects relationships of all kinds. It is also negative for the woman of the house, the health of the stomach and womb area and for things to do with the ‘big earth’ element. These problems will be worse if your front door is located in this sector or your bedroom is there. Some people prefer not to sleep in this sector for the whole year.
Remove any crystals in the South-west sector to avoid problems in romance and relationships. It is important not to have a large collection of crystals in the South-west sector of your home this year and it is very important to hang a large wind chime with six hollow metal tubes. You can use the one that was located in the North sector in 2018, which should be removed from there. It can be inside or outside and does not have to make any sound. Metal is not a very good element for the South-west sector but it is necessary to control the Five Yellows.
The yearly eight star is located in the central sector this year and place a bubbling fountain here. With this in place, you can expect some additional income.
A negative influence for wealth is located in the South-east sector. Place a large wooden bowl with still water. This will absorb the negative energy. Change the water every three days or so and do not let pets drink it.
If you have a fountain in the North sector it will be good for your career as well as things to do with media and publicity. Make sure that the water appears to flow towards the centre of your home or business.
Hang a metal wind chime or bells in the North-west to get more people helping you in your life.
A six-rod metal wind chime in the West sector will be good for luck involving children this year. You can leave the one that you placed there last year. If you are on IVF treatments, or have problems having children in general, a wind-chime in the West will help to give you the best chance of success.
A small six-rod wind chime is recommended in the North-east sector for controlling the possibility of sickness for anyone whose bedroom or study is located in that area. As usual, it does not have to make a sound in order for it to work.
These Feng Shui recommendation are an integrated package and it is best to do ALL of them. They may contradict some of the general 20-year recommendations but it is very important to check every year and make these adjustments. My most successful clients are the ones who diligently check these yearly changes, especially if I visit them yearly as I often do.
My predictions for President Trump were pretty accurate – ‘His problems will continue, however I suspect that others will fall around him and somehow he will survive politically mainly because of the good Feng Shui advice he has received’. This year will bring a lot of mental stress for him. 2020 will be worse, with both financial and health problems unless they are remedied at the White House and Trump Tower in New York City.
If you want to know the Feng Shui reasoning behind these predictions and how to improve all areas of your life you can check out my beginner’s book – Feng Shui -Seeing is Believing from Wisdom Publications and my in-depth online Feng Shui courses from Wisdom Academy.
I hope these Feng Shui techniques bring you a lot of benefit in 2019!
